People all around us,

Seem to have a certain way.

A talent or a gifting,

That their life just naturally plays.

They bring it to the table,

Of life’s players there to see.

All they have to offer,

And say they’re meant to be.

The audience applauds them,

And gives them all their dues.

But their heart knows deep behind that,

There is something lacking; something true.

The “It” Factor at the table,

Will only take you just so far.

Bring it to the alter,

And let it die there in the fire.

There upon the alter,

It will be raised to life again.

With God’s resurrecting power,

A new level it accends.

At the alter He will sanctify,

All of the gifts He placed in you.

Talent, wisdom, skills, abilities,

Surrendered, now play true.

For His Glory is the sounding tune,

The Factor made brand new.

The “It” can now see “Spirit”,

As the Factor to pursue!

Author’s Look~

We live in a world of PERFORMANCE. Humans everywhere are anxious to show us all- what they’ve got. The “it” factor. . .The thing about them that is unique, well skilled, entertaining and influencing for our attention span. We are easily dazzled by it and heap the praise of encouragement for this factor that they possess.

They’ve just got “it”, and they can bring “it” to the table for all to enjoy.

The problem there, is that the glory of the thing is being self appointed. The praise, the notoriety is all for self, and as exciting as it can be at first, the day will come . . .that it will all feel empty. This “it” factor can only serve self for so long before it proves lacking.

Rev. Joel Urshan was preaching this sermon at the Urshan Pulpit Conference in March/2021. He expounded to the students listening there. . “.Bring it to the alter, not the table. Let it die at the alter. It will be raised to life with His resurrection power. Your talents, wisdom, skills, abilities . . . give it to God and watch what He does with it. He will sanctify it and use it for His Glory! It won’t be an “it” factor but a “spirit” factor!”

What a word of encouragement and influence for the hearts of those listening!

The “spirit” factor- that’s where it is at. That is where you find fulfillment, because you are taking what God has blessed you with, surrendering it to Him and using it to give Glory and Honor to Him. That is the purpose of it all.

TO GOD BE THE GLORY!

Whatever God has given you . . . bring it to the alter, and let it die there. God will raise it to life in a way that you could have never imagined. When you are willing to step aside to make it about Him and not you, there are no boundaries for the power He will put behind it.

I Kings 7:13 &14 (KJV) . . .And King Solomon sent and fetched Hiram out of Tyre. (14)He was a widow’s son of the tribe of Naphtali, and his father was a man of Tyre, a worker in brass: and he was filled with wisdom, and understanding, and cunning to work all works in brass. And he came to King Solomon, and wrought all his work.

The “Spirit” factor makes all of the difference!

  1. Love this. I believe it’s where the anointing comes in. If it’s spirit it will show just as if it’s about self it will show. Wished more people would realize this especially from the platform. Whether preaching , singing, or just speaking, it should always be about using your talents for God.

  2. Lord let me bless you with my spirit factor! 🙏
You’re the river of all my joy and contentment 🎉
