It wants to run rampantly wild,
Loose, unbridled and free.
To every path that it randomly chooses,
Inside every whim it discovers to be.
Lackadaisical efforts,
Allow loose reins to control the mind.
Beholding every evil thought,
Continuously streaming in sync with time.
Unaware of the danger in entertaining,
When in a moment arises a need,
Your greatest asset is easily hindered,
From taming this powerful steed.
When allowed to wonder on its own,
To its wants and desires all day,
Don’t expect to call it into subjection,
In a moment you want your say.
The mind has to be grounded and girded,
With a protection of healthy bounds.
That narrows in on the purpose,
For your true walk to be internally found.
Its a constant work of redirection,
Reeling in thoughts which lose their way.
Returning to what is purposed,
For your mind not to live astray.
A divided mind is scattered,
And cannot produce a profitable end.
Daily training will bring a heart in line,
With a mind that is trained to win.

Author’s Look~
Everything we do, begins and ends with our mind. The actions we take and the words we speak come from the thoughts we have formed somewhere along the line, in our mind. This can be done intentionally or unintentionally, and although we have a choice of how things are done; it takes intention to decide which way it will go.
We are constantly making choices, so we need to be aware of how to set up our mind for its best success. Intentionality takes planning, and planning prepares for possibilities of outcomes, which is why deciding ahead of times, lets your mind know where you stand.
Free and Wild
This piece was written from inspiration I read in a book based on The Teachings of Verbal Bean, titled: Prayer. Steven George Carrier is the author and used recordings of Rev. Bean teaching in a Bible school as his source. He was teaching his students the importance of not giving heed to the enemy, even in thought. By trying to wrestle with him, and deny him, or complain about him, we are allowing our attention and focus to go there and not with God. Just ignore the Devil and don’t give him a place in your thoughts, was Rev. Bean’s message. So true!!! Any kind of attention is just one big ploy of distraction.
“This does not justify casually beholding evil, or allowing your mind to run loose all day. Some folks can’t pray, because they are lackadaisical all day, and when they try to pray, their mind is still running wild. The best way to walk with God is to keep your ind in subjection.” Rev. Verbal Bean
II Corinthians 10:5 (KJV). . .Bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ.
Control
If you want a mind that is focused and ready to pray, then you have to be in control of what you let it dwell on. You have to be in a continuous habit of training your mind, and when you put that into steady practice, it will not be so difficult, or a constant battle anymore. The forefront of your thoughts will already be in place and lined up with what you believe and practice daily.
I Peter 1:13 (KJV). . .Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind. . . .
The attack on the mind is constant with all that is trying to invade that space. Be the guardian of it, protecting, girding, directing to what you want it to focus on. Your prayer time with God will notice, and it will be seamless to begin a conversation with Him, and not a process of directing the mind to find a way to connect. Practice staying your mind on God and His goodness, repeating gratitude in your heart and mind. Be thankful unto Him and Bless His name! Repeat such words and many others that come from God’s Word That is how you fight back for the space in the mind to be where you want it to be.
Reel in and tame your thoughts to stay close to God, with gratitude to Him for all He has done for you. Keep your mind under subjection, and the reward will be great. A mind stayed on Christ is a mind of peace, joy and stability. Decide now, with intention, which way you want your heart to follow and keep your thoughts aligned with great intention. Success will follow and the relationship you have with God will flow so much better without the constant turmoil of the fight. Minding your mind makes all of the diference.
WINS AND LOSES, BEGINS IN THE MIND!
