It’s there at the Altar,

Where true significance displays.

Right there at the Altar,

Critical decisions can be made.

Redemptive power is ignited to save,

Tender mercies burst freely to flow.

Corrections of the heart makes its way,

All this is present at the Altar to know.

Throughout the course of a God given life,

The Altar has its rightful place.

A small child can feel its tender draw,

Just as real as a man needing Amazing Grace.

The Altar is the center of,

Where a heart should always lean.

As it directs the guiding boundaries,

And God reveals himself to be seen.

“It’s a spiritual power station,” -RB

Attracting the fire of God.

Broken pieces build up the Altars,

Where restoration beats all of the odds.

Is it time to build an Altar,

To hear from God about your life?

Find revelation at the Altar,

As a living sacrifice.

Author’s Look~

I have already given away my source of inspiration for this piece, when I quoted Rev. Ron Becton’s words, “Its a spiritual power station” as he referred to the mighty power of Altars in our lives. This message preached, stirred my heart as a reminder of just how powerful the Altar moments of our life remain throughout our entire journey here on earth, and the purpose it plays in our relationship with God.

Motivation

Rev. Becton reminded us that “God reveals himself where Altars are built; where Altars are honored.” And that, “Altars attract the fire of God.” Just based on that information alone is motivation to spend more time in an Altar, where God can take a heart we are surrendering in that moment, and mold and make it into the beauty He desires to see in us.

He created us and knows our frame, so He’s more aware than anyone, how imperfect we are; for that is not what He seeks. God looks for a heart seeking Him, opening up at an Altar to say, ‘Your way God, and not mine. Lead me Lord, and let my heart hear from you. Mold me, make me and change me, as only you can!’ A living sacrifice looking to be changed.

Brokenness

We heard in the message that day, that just as many Altars are made of broken pieces, we can bring the broken pieces of our lives to God at an Altar and attract the “Fire of God” there in that moment of surrender. It’s a place of “reset and repair for our life. . . .A spiritual power station.”

Where else can you get that? It will not be found here on earth, for it is not of this earth, but the Creator of it all. Stop looking around for the grips and vices of this world to make that change in your life. There is no power there. It takes the “Fire of God” to change the heart and soul of man.

Left to our own devices, we will destroy ourselves, but surrendered to God at an Altar, He can refigure, define and lead our lives within the bounds of His glory. Joy, contentment, peace of mind are found in the space of an Altar. It’s a place for God to speak to what your soul needs to hear.

What About You?

Do you want to hear from God about your life? Are you tired of trying to do it alone? Does guilt and shame keep you from coming forth? Make a space, a place for an Altar in your life. God is there already and waits only to hear you call out in surrender. Mold me and make me, Lord. I am yours.
