Memories that make me smile,

Are the ones I like to think on best.

They give me much more freedom,

And happiness than the rest.

They take me back, they let me go again,

To wherever I want to be.

They remind me of all that is good in my life,

They make me feel so free.

I forget for a while what bogs me down,

And enjoy each corner of my smile.

They can take me just a little short ways,

Or let me travel many a mile.

Memories are my own vacations,

All packed up in my head

I can take a trip whenever I want,

Whether walking or lying in bed.

They’re never a worry or bother,

An intrusion or a pest.

They’re the memories that make me smile,

And they are the ones that I like best.

Memories have so much power in our lives.  They can be sustaining and they can be draining.  Again, it can come down to a choice of what we decide to –Think On.

The mind is such a masterful thing, and I am not going to attempt to describe things that I don’t have true knowledge of.  But, I will empathize with the struggle to control our thought life.  We cannot help every little thought that pops up into our mental space.  Sometimes we are blindsided by what springs up there, and it takes some true effort to gain control of the steering wheel.

Smiling Memories, we can all be a fan of:)  It is my prayer today, that you have some of those tucked away for just the right moment of need.  We can take a bad day or experience and turn it around when we remember the good things that have made us smile in life.   Just a little remembrance of them, can lift a spirit high.

The Apostle Paul gave us a good example of that in

Phillippians 1:3-5 (ESV) . . . I thank my God in all my remembrance of you, always in every prayer of mine for you all making my prayer with joy, because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now.

This group of people had given him smiling memeories and he was using them to keep a heart of gratitude.  I know we all want to be THANKFUL in ALL THINGS . . .not FOR . . but IN.  We can use those smiling memories we have tucked away to help us achieve that.

Go ahead, try one today!  Take that little mini vacation in your head, and enjoy every corner of that smile:)
