Jericho’s walls stood towering, strong,

No way out . . . . and no way in.

It was the boundary, standing in between,

Israel . . .and their victory win.

God had given them the promise,

That they WOULD possess the land.

Yet that mighty wall stood mocking,

Voicing doubts that took their hand.

Joshua gave the battle plan,

March around the walls each day,

His command said do it silently,

Defeating the power of negativity’s say.

Silence was the weapon they carried,

As in faith, they marched on God’s lead.

He had brought them through their journey long,

Now this victory they too would soon see.

Your circumstances might look surrounded,

Seeming sealed off from breaking through.

Stop talking about the negative powers,

That keep God from what He wants to do.

You might have to march around it for awhile,

But in silence, keep hold of Faith’s hand.

When the Lord gets ready for what He intends for you,

Rise up and possess the land!

The stories of faith we read of in the Bible are not fictional tales to entertain. They are there to encourage us and remind us, that there is NOTHING on this Earth that God cannot touch or intervene in.

Our world can get so big in our small circles, and true overwhelm can scamper our faith. We have to look up and outside of the circumstances to see where our TRUE help comes from.

Rev. Darren Stavely was speaking to our congregation about this when he referenced Jericho and the mighty walls that surrounded it. Israels was promised this land by God, and so in FAITH, they showed up to hear the battle plan. We can imagine the human facial expressions when Joshua laid it all out. . . . March around the walls silently once each day, and seven times on the seventh day. THEN, the priest would blow their ram’s horn and they would exclaim a great shout of VICTORY.

MARCH . . . . SILENTLY.

Humanity went to work . . .Yeah . . . .that seems like it’s going to get a lot done. . . . . .

It was pure FAITH that took those steps around the walls of Jericho. Israel marched as they remembered ALL that they had seen God do since freeing them from Egypt’s bond. They wanted to trust the plan, and God knew their frame, so He handed them the secret weapon . . . .SILENCE.

That was the point Rev. Stavely wanted to bring home to us that day. God knew if there was talking going on among the people, the doubts that were circling their minds would be shared and grow like plague. Doubt and negativity are the enemy of faith. If we give them too much power, they can block the mighty things God wants to do.

God just wanted Israel to hold on to faith in what He could do for them. This victory would leave NO DOUBT of just WHO had given them the promised land. And, He Knew . . . if faith was to remain . . .SILENCE would be the key.

Joshua 6:10 (KJV) . . .And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

Whatever you are facing today . . .carry your mighty weapon of SILENCE over negativity. Don’t lend it any power. March around it in FAITH, trusting God’s TIME and knowing . . . He FIGHTS for YOU!

THEN, SHALL YE SHOUT!!

  1. This is so good. I really need to hear this today. Even read it to my husband. We need to be silent and pray in every situation. God help me to do this daily. Amen
