Where are you in the quiet?

When your spirit can’t unite.

Your eyes, your ears untouching.

On reliances from outside.

It’s just You, alone, discerning,

How God fills His promised space.

Your words say He is calling,

For what your actions give away.

No service, sermon or singer,

Can be sought to find a cue.

To usher in God’s presence,

That restores and refills you.

The relationship that you nurture,

On the daily in your life.

Will be the source of measure,

For your spirit to surmise.

Where you are in the quiet,

Confidence, holding your hand.

Knowing the Spirit’s leading,

This journey of God’s faithful plan.

Author’s Look~

A calling of God can be a lot for the human mind to wrestle with. The thoughts that brought this poem about derived from several different sermons preached, words shared through a radio broadcast, and podcast listened to. Each time, the same thought wave was cultivated and sending an important message to my heart. This message reminded me that sometimes in life, it all comes down to you and God, and the strength of that moment is in the relationship that has been formed. Confidence of the calling is found there.

Outside Calling

It’s always easier to get confirmation from those around us, rather than being confident with what we know is inside of us. Our trust is easily faltered within ourselves, yet so sustaining for those on the outside. That voice in our heads that shouts its message of negativity and false notions is so believable too much of the time, as it plays into the hands of our own self doubt and feelings of inadequacy. Even though it is not a true source of confidence, we give outsiders too much power in our calling.

Quiet Calling

No matter the amount of devoted encouragers that surround you, undoubtedly, there will always be a space of quiet. That’s exactly when the fear and self doubt like to settle in, while the questions of authenticity begin to roll inside of our heads. What a powerful moment to lift your head to the One who has called you and gain that confirmation within the daily time you spend with Him; all the while knowing, God is still there in the quiet, just as He was there the day He called your heart to His service. Trust that His faith in you is the same, and that His faithfulness never changes. He has called you, and He is forever with you.

Strength

Comparatively, a bodybuilder can easily reveal where they spend devoted time and pleasure, because their strength is visible and there is no doubt about how that great strength was formed. There is confidence in that body to perform, for it has been trained in daily sums of time with great consistency. That person doesn’t need a cheering crowd, but the knowledge of what has been done and maintained to perform the tasks at hand. Our spiritual strength is the same. Whenever we consistently maintain our relationship with God, it is growing and gaining in strength while encouraging our confidence to do what He has called us to do.

God’s calling will not always be a crowd cheering favorite; however, when walking steadfast with Him, your foot is sure of the steps He has asked you to take. Because of this, your faith to take these steps is strengthened by the time spent in His presence and the life experiences you have journeyed together. It’s all found in the RELATIONSHIP formed. And If you try Him, God will prove His faithfulness time and time again without fail. He is a FAITHFUL God!

God’s Word

Psalms 33:4-5 (KJV). . . For the word of the LORD is right; And all his works are done in truth. He loveth righteousness and judgement: the earth is full of the goodness of the Lord.

The Earth is FULL of the goodness of the the Lord! Each day holds that assurance, speaking a continuous testiment for your heart to consider in the quiet as you [work the works of Him, who sent you while it is day. . .John 9:4]. Don’t let doubt defy you.

Be confident in your calling!
