In the desert we depend upon,

The daily provisions given by God.

Israel thought their freedom had been found,

But into a wilderness they trod.

Complaining is not the solution,

When life throws us the unplanned.

If we let our questions go unchecked,

They can quickly become demands.

God’s love for His children was still there to provide,

The daily manna that they found.

Because His mercy is new every morning,

Heavenly sustenance appeared on the ground.

Manna means “what is it?”

For Earth had never known it’s kind.

Only God could make this wonder,

That would sustain them for all that time.

No collecting it or storing,

Manna was only for that day.

Faith had to believe in,

God’s faithfulness to stay.

Some things we will never,

Have the answer to, conveyed.

But don’t miss the provision in front of you,

Of what God’s given for TODAY.

As flawed humans, we can easily get it wrong when dealing with life’s difficulties. We have plans, decisions, visions, pressures and goals. We want to see the outcome we wanted . . .to actually happen.

When it doesn’t and we are side railed, it is SO EASY to start the complain game. It actually flows pretty naturally right out of our mouths. Some of the complaints can begin as simple questions, but as the lack of answers arrive, frustrations builds, and before we know it, we are slinging complaints like a champion. Pouting and stomping, whining and hateful- we are mad, plain and simple. We didn’t get our way. The best of intentions could have been the dream, but for answers we will never know, it wasn’t meant to be.

God doesn’t leave us in our disappointment. He knows our fragile state, but in all that we face, He only asks for one thing- that WE TRUST HIM. The Israelites had faced hundreds of years of unplanned disappointment in slavery. God miraculously freed them, and they thought the suffering was over. Little did they know, that their complaining and lack of faith in God, was going to lead them to a very long journey in the wildreness.

That land of milk and honey was going to have to be for another day. Right now, it was wilderness time -to learn the lessons of faith and dependence on God. And, He proved Himself FAITHFUL!

EVERY morning, the Manna from Heaven was fresh and new. It was just what they needed that day to sustain them, and the next day, and the next day, and the next . . . for all 40 years. He never failed them, NOT ONE DAY.

This was based off of sermon preached by Rev. Roy Duke earlier this year, entitled “A Walk In The Wilderness”. He emphasized the point to us, that God’s mercy is NEW EVERY morning. We may not have the answers that we want, but EVERY morning, He supplies what we need. Only heaven could supply manna. It was not known on Earth. And, only heaven can supply what we need to sustain us. Trust God with His provision!

Exodus 16:4 (NIV) . . .Then the Lord said to Moses, “I will rain down bread from heaven for you. The people are to go out each day and gather enough for that day. In this way I will test them and see whether they will follow my instructions.”

What does God have for you . . . just for TODAY?
