The lad had just a little,

To offer Jesus that fateful day.

This didn’t hinder the potential,

Of the miracle that played.

Jesus only needed an offering,

Of one bringing what they had.

The same is true for us today,

God is seeking after a lad.

We can fool ourselves into thinking,

In us no purpose or value lies.

Pride keeps us in a timid place,

Silent, recluse, self-preserving, we hide.

Fear and inferiority complex,

We surrender to their hold.

But God has given us the spirit of POWER,

Of Love, and a Sound Mind to be BOLD!

True humility is found in the Fear of the Lord,

It stokes the strong confidece fires,

Arrogance is not having confidence in God,

BOLD AS A LION, for us He desires.

God gives everyone talents,

Leaving no exceptions to be used.

Stop talking about the little you have,

And see in the Master’s hands, what it can do.

Many are called, but few are chosen,

God is seeking for a lad.

Not your ability, but your availability,

The depths of God is reaching . . for a lad.

Author’s Look~

Rev. Mark Brown preached this sermon . . . There Is A Lad Here at NAYC 2019 in St. Louis MO. This was written, directly from that message. He was presenting to the thousands, the WORD of truth that trumps fear. And that WORD is . . . God doesn’t need what we have, big or small, He just waits for us to offer it, and watch Him do miraculous things with it. Just an offering . . . that is all that is needed.

In the Bible we read of the lad who made that kind of offering on a day that a miracle would take place. Five Thousand were in need of lunch and Jesus sent the disciples out to survey the crowd for what was available. I’m sure the lad could do his own quick math to know that the lunch he had was not even going to begin to feed that crowd, but he didn’t let that stop him from offering it.

Jesus didn’t need his lunch. He could have called down lunch from heaven, but he needed the offering of what the lad had, to show the power of it in HIS hands.

God is looking for a lad still today, in all of us. For me personally, this message hits me hard, as it goes to the core of my struggle to be BOLD AS A LION, in true humility with God. When Rev. Brown said, “pride keeps us in a timid place . . . silent, recluse and self-preserving,” I was hit. I felt uncovered, exposed . . . even to myself for the first time.

I had to sit with that personal truth and examine how much I have let those things hold me back in my life. Since I can remember, those have been my companions . . .silence, recluse and self-preserving. It had seemed like a good plan . . . a safe place to be. . . take no chances, make no mistakes and no one gets hurt. This stance can also seem more righteous than prideful. My eyes were opened, and I had to examine my heart. For, when you hide behind these things, it’s hard to see around what you are clinging to.

2 Timothy 1:7 (KJV) . . . For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

We don’t have to be bound by fear of not enough. It is not done by our power, but God’s. We just have to be bold enough to put it into His hands.

Rev. Brown reminded us, that none of us are exempt. We have all been given talent by God. How are you using that talent for Him today? I pray that this has reached your heart as it did mine. If what you have to offer feels insignificant . . .offer it anyway. It’s EXACTLY what God is looking for! He doesn’t need our talent. He wants our offering!

He’s just looking for a lad!
