Control is a concept,

Humanity yearns to know.

We keep ourselves in a quandary of,

When to embrace it,

And, when to let it go.

It can be a false reliance,

To think we hold the reins.

To think we have the power,

To bring situation’s change.

For we too are a creation,

Of God’s mighty, masterful hand.

And only the Creator has,

The control of creation’s stand.

We are not our own,

But divine property of love,

Jesus broke the bondage,

That His blood has freed us of.

Our actions are not our own,

We reflect God in all that we do.

His creation reflects His glory,

And the Earth tells Him all that’s true.

So let our controlling desire,

Find faith when we don’t understand.

We can laugh at the storms that come in life,

Because we hold the storm controller’s Hand.

Let go of false reliance,

And find peace in Heaven’s flow.

Rest in the knowledge that one greater than you,

Is operating in Divine Control.

CONTROL . . . is a powerful word in our human dictionary of life. We love to feel as if we have the power, or at least the false peace that comes in believing that, to manipulate situations and bring about the desired result.

We do have certain levels of control, and God expects us to exercise that in the circumstances calling for it. It’s not an all or nothing type of thing. It is a knowledge of and acknowledgement of, the difference between our limitations and the all-powerful, unlimited, mighty hand of God.

We don’t just pray and then sit back and see what God can do. We pray, asking God’s help, all the while working to do all that we can do.

But, when we know that we have hit the wall of our limitations . . . we stop. . . and acknowledge His greatness, His glory, and we ask Him to move in on the situation, as ONLY He can.

If you have FAITH in WHO He is, Peace rolls in. True Peace, that reminds us- ONLY He can, and we TRUST Him.

This writing was based off of a sermon delivered by Rev. Mervin Miller in January of 2000. It’s relevance still remains, because it comes from the Word of God which never changes. He was preaching that day about God’s place vs. Our place in this life.

God is the creator of us all- and all that surrounds us.

EVERYTHING was made by Him, and we need Him for EVERYTHING.

That’s completely OK. There is no shame in that.

It’s putting God in his High place of Glory and inviting Him to operate in Divine Control. Only there, are the best results going to be found.

Rev. Miller reminded the congregation listening that day, that we are not our own, but we are divine property. We have been bought with a price and our actions are not our own. Because of His goodness, let the Earth tell Him so.

Mark 4:39 (KJV) . . .And He arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm.

If you are tired and battle worn, find rest in God and give it all over to Him. Release the reins of false control, and hand them over to the Master of it all.

HE IS THE SUPREME AUTHORITY!
