Out there in the atmosphere,

Filled with so many signals to be found.

Our radar’s continually picking up,

This world’s never ending sounds.

It’s where we stop to tune in,

The voice that has our ear.

Plays into the structure,

Of our character that appears.

We are a product of our environment,

Everyone wants you to know what they have to say.

Giving your time to their platform,

Brings a cost in life to pay.

Allowing ourselves to be influenced,

By those who we spend our time.

Creates the thoughts and actions,

Most just accept while walking blind.

Where are you casting your receiver?

Is your antenna way down low?

Catching all of the garble,

Humanity loves to bestow.

Substance and true purpose,

Are much higher in the air.

God’s loving voice is calling,

Where His great wisdom lies to share.

It takes a conscious effort,

To Rise above the Fray,

Casting your antenna higher,

To catch the truth desired for display.

No longer in the darkness,

Of continued, chaotic sounds.

Clear, distinct, direction,

In a higher atmosphere is found.

Happy New Year is the phrase we throw around right now, and rightfully so, as we start a brand new year, we wish for all to encounter happiness and blessing in the days that fill it. It is in these days, that I have brought this thought to you of purpose in your time and attention. It is easy to let life and its circumstances just carry us away, without directing for a specific outcome, while waking up one day and realizing that this is not where you wanted to be.

The people we choose to hang around and the voices on social media that we continually feed on, will influence our thoughts and behavior. If negativity and unhappiness surrounds you, and you find yourself complaining, gossiping, envying, sliding down that slippery slope, then it is time for a change. Isn’t that what the New Year inspires? Time to turn the ship around and begin with doing one thing different.

Inspiration

This piece was not written from a sermon, but a thought shared by our then Pastor’s wife, Cheryl Becton at a Ladies Bible study one Sat. morning many years ago. She gave a testimony of her late Father, Rev. Charles Grisham, who as a pastor, had dealt with a lady that was ALWAYS negative and spreading it. He reminded her one day, that her antenna was too low, which was causing her to only pick up the low lands, and negative things that were bringing her into its space. His advice: Get that antenna way on up there in the heaven-lies! Grab hold of a higher signal that will feed you higher things!

Peace of mind and contentment, come from a heart that is not fixated on self. If we are looking for peace and wisdom that is unworldly, then we have to rise above the FRAY of this world and stop letting everyone around us, and on the screen, speak into our hearts and minds.

The continuous garble of what is constantly spuing out around us is contaminating, and if that is all our antenna is picking up, then that is all that is going to feed us. We have to raise it higher. Get that antenna way on up there and find a signal that will astound you. The atmosphere of God is like no other and will bring the true substance of life that feeds and directs you.
