The mind is a place that feeds on much,
Vast supply is all around.
It’s the place where the heart takes its start,
To consume all that is found.
The heart leads the mind, guided by the eye,
To take in what desire seeks.
The truth of self begins to tell,
The story our character keeps.
The force of desire determines the tale,
Appetite, will always sway.
With its tantalizing power to persuade,
The eye and mind to see its way.
Actions will present the appetite,
Of a physical or spiritual source.
The devouring of each displays its fruits,
In a revealing, organic force.
Feeding on the dead things,
Of this world’s enticing cry.
Will malnourish a defeated, darkened soul,
That falls for all its lies.
Heart desires have to RISE,
In an appetite revival for what LIVES.
Hunger and thirst for the things of God,
Feasting on TRUE LIFE only He can give.

Author’s Look~
On a Sunday morning, two years ago, Rev. Ron Becton preached a sermon by this title. His message intent was to challenge our hearts on just what it is that we feed upon. We react so many times, without thinking or intention, following our mood, interest, cultural popularity or peer influence. It is through that method where our physical appetite grows and we can lose sight of what really matters the most.
Rev. Becton reminded us that Sunday, how the physical appetite is feeding on the dead things of this world, that will steal away the treasures of True Life. Esau was given as an example, as he was hungry for the wrong things. His physical appetite was stronger than his spiritual appetite and he lost his birthright. This scripture in Job was referenced . .
Job 28:7 (KJV) . . .There is a path which no fowl knoweth, and which the vulture’s eye hath not seen:
The higher things of God are not because he can’t see it . . .he doesn’t want to . . he doesn’t desire it. DESIRE it. That is the key to this whole matter. It is so important what we DESIRE! Our appetite will determine our character. What our desires are feeding into our mind . . . will SHOW.
Our desires need to be changed . . . a REVIVAL!
The heart of VICTORY is to find what God has. We find it by seeking, by desiring . . . wanting more and more of what God has and less and less of what this world is holding out to us. . . the dead things.
Desiring time in prayer with God, Desiring to read and study His Word, giving up time spent in front of entertaining screens to accomplish this (yeah, that hits us all). We have to lay something down, to pick something else up. What are you picking up?
Has your desires wondered down the wrong path. Looking back now, are you who you intended to be? Are you wondering aimlessly? Is your desire toward God and the things of LIFE that He offers? No matter where you find your answers to these questions landing, you can start today with intentionality and DESIRE toward the things of God. That is where VICTORY is found. That is where joy, peace and eternal life rest. . . in the hands of God.
Only He can offer that to you. Make a new commitment today for an Appetite Revival that will transform your life. Let it change you in humility- not to brag on your “righteous behavior”, but let it get inside and do the kind of work that only God can do and others will see without you ever telling them about it. It will SHOW.
David knew: Psalm 51:10 (KJV) . . . Create in me a clean heart, O God; and renew a right spirit within me.
That is my prayer today.
THOSE WHO HUNGER AND THIRST WILL FIND IT!
DESIRE, REVIVAL, COMMITMENT 🙏🏻
So good!!
Thank you Donna! So easy to get distracted for lesser things. . . .
