You hear it coming,
Whispering through the trees.
You feel it’s arrival,
Though none of it you see.
It refreshes your body,
From the heat of the day.
It arranges your hair,
In unusual ways.
Aromas are stirred,
In its traveling path.
Your nose smells the distance,
Though none of it lasts.
It is quickly gone,
Just as fast as it came.
You don’t know the rhythm,
Of its toying game.
A breath of new air,
It brings to enjoy.
Then whisks away quickly,
Smiling so coy.
It’s journey continues,
As it passes you by.
And finds more to implore,
Of the wind’s lullaby.

Author’s Look ~
I wrote this on a beautiful spring afternoon. Sun, no humidity, and the wind continually gracing us with it’s presence. I closed my eyes and felt it dancing on my face, and began to write in my mind, the words I have shared here. It was such a pleasant experience that capped off so many other pleasant things happening around it. The budding trees shining in the sun, and the crisp air to breath were all draw enough, but the wind came to visit and added it’s special touch. It made me think of the verse in
John 3:8 (KJV). . . The wind blowers where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, or whither it goeth; so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
Jesus used the analogy of the wind to explain to Nicodemus, just what being born of the Spirit was like. You can’t explain it, you won’t control it, and maybe didn’t even see it coming. But, when it is there upon you, there is not doubt of how you feel it, and the refreshing joy it will bring to you. The mystery of it remains, but the power of its presence is real!
