Neither give place,

To the one who destroys.

The lies he whispers softly,

A twisted plot to steal your joy.

Righteous indignation,

He wants you to believe.

Is what your circumstances measure,

And keep your focus there, deceived.

We let some ideas just settle,

As a truth that God has willed.

It’s a tool of satan’s torment.

He doesn’t want God’s purpose for you, fulfilled.

We can never give place to the devil,

Our peace, he desires to rob.

From the place we can never be separated,

The mighty LOVE OF GOD!

If we keep our place in Jesus,

The Holy Ghost alive, residing there.

Truth will fight with honor,

What weapons of destruction want to tear.

Be sober, be vigilant, staying in God’s Word,

Never following the culture’s norm.

A hunger for God and reverent faith,

Neither, gives place to destructive conforms.

Where is Your Place? is an important question to know the answer to, for where you give space, is the place that you will be found. The apostle Paul gives this warning in Ephesians. He’s telling the church how to walk in Christian living, and not as the world around them lives. He begins to list it all out as you read in chapter 4, giving many examples of the “places” the enemy would like to find access into our character and act out total destruction. In the middle of all the things Paul is listing on what not to do, he pauses to say. . .

The Enemy’s Place

It doesn’t get anymore plain or simple than that, folks. Don’t make a place for him to slip in and get his filthy lies inside of your heart and mind. He wants to trip you up big time, and will use any tactic in any “place” that he can find. God’s purpose for you, he wants negated and utterly destroyed. He is full of disgust, the father of all lies, and his only job is to get you to believe them. If he can get you focused on circumstances, faith in God’s hand will fade.

We must be sober, vigilant and in God’s Word to strengthen our fortress agains the weapons of the enemy. We can block his weapons of warfare, when we have been in the presence of God. We are strengthened there to face the opposition. Our resolve is found in the strength of the Holy Ghost we have sought to entertain. This is the “place” we find ourselves securely wrapped in the love of God, and no matter how much the enemy tries to trick us to believe it, we can NEVER be separated from the love of God!

Culture’s Place

Turning away from the culture and its norms is a must, for that, is a dry and thirsty land. That desert is where you will be a walking target for satan to take you down. Weakend faith will lend an ear and give “place” to what is whispered there. You must continually fill your tank with the things of God so that when circumstances of life arise, your faith can stand strong in the fire. We are more than conquerors through Him that loved us!

God’s Place

This was written from a sermon preached by our pastor, Rev. Roy Duke over 5 years ago. As I read over the notes of that message, I wanted to share the power of the words he used to encourage us that Sunday morning to be on watch. Don’t give place to the Devil and never ever believe that you have been separated from God’s love. God is always there ready and waiting to rescue and redeem, anyone and any situation. He breathes life into what is dead and He desires for his every purpose to be fulfilled in your life. Stay in His Word and in His presence. Peace will be in that “place”.
