Do you chase the wonder,
Of who our great God is?
Do you show forth praises of His majesty that lives?
Nicodemus, asked the questions,
That to some seemed out of place.
He marveled at the miracles,
But wanted to meet Jesus, face to face.
WHO ARE YOU? was his question,
HOW CAN THESE THINGS BE?
Crossed armed Pharisees stood judging,
But Nicodemus needed to see.
He got right, what we sometimes don’t
Looking past the miraculous good cause.
Jesus’s works did not deter him,
From chasing the wonder of who God was.
Nicodemus was not just concerned,
With all that Jesus was doing.
“I want to know who you are!”
Was the heartbeat of his perusing.
How often do we come to God,
Not seeking what He can do.
But just loving Him for His wonder,
And praising what is true.
Everything He’s done for me,
Has revealed His glorious ways,
If nothing else to me is shown,
I’ll love and praise God’s WONDER all my days.

Our church was recently blessed to have the ministry of the Urshan College Choral come and lead us in a night of great worship and praise to God! One of the students singing, Jarrod Stevens, gave a testimony before the song, Let There Be Wonder. It was from the words of his testimony, that this was written.
Jarrod began telling of a child he had come across, while on tour, who was in a deep and long session of worship to God. A child, who may not have had time enough in his young life to fully know the “things” God can do for him, but was fully immersed in love and praise for WHO God was.
He brought up the story of Nicodemus, a Jewish ruler that we read about in the Bible, who revealed such a strong need to know . . . Who Are You? Jesus was doing miraculous things all around them, and many of the religious leaders scoffed at him. But Nicodemus looked past all of that and desired to know more. He was focused on the Wonder of Who God Was!
Nicodemus stepped out and asked the questions, that sometimes we don’t take the time to stop and ask. . . Who Are You God? He marveled. He wondered. We don’t always take the time to just sit and reflect on the the Wonder of Who He IS. Too many times we are coming to God with our request- looking for the miracles, without just coming to praise Him for His Wonder.
Nicodemus wasn’t concerned with what Jesus was doing. He said, “I want to know who you are!”
All of these words spoken by Jarrod that night, reminded me of my earliest memories with God. I remember just being WOWED by Him and who He was.
It also reminded me of a bedtime prayer, my son Grant prayed as an 8yr. old child. He was praying one of those long, drawn out prayers that would stall going to sleep:) As he was diligently thanking God for everything that he could think of, he eventually found his way to outer space. . .”the stars, the moon, the milky way” . . . and then he paused before saying, “and ALL the things that you made. . .” He got quiet. It was dark in the room, so I had to lean in to see if his eyes were still shut. Was he done? About that time, he said very slowly . . . “GOOD, JOB. . .God!!!”
He was in awe, as he dared to think of God’s mighty works! It took him to the WONDER of Who God is.
John 3:9 (KJV) . . .Nicodemus answered and said unto him, How can these things be?
