Isaac came back in search of,
New life from Father Abraham’s wells.
Knowing the years they were filled in,
By the Philistine’s hands they had fell.
Wells not guarded or protected,
No reverence held for the value they gave.
Vitality stored in their life giving flow,
Ceased, in a culture where Israel caved.
Who has dug such wells to sustain you?
Godly Saints and family before?
You’ve dwelt in the glory and power,
Where God’s presence so freely outpoured.
Wells dug by those unyielding,
To culture’s bombarding attempts.
In halting the living waters,
Only God’s Well knows how to present.
Has careless time eroded,
A set determination to protect?
Such priceless wells survival,
Generations will need to reflect.
God is calling us to uncover,
Forgotten wells once known to flow.
Where there’s life renewed and cleansing,
In deep waters dug long ago.
It will cost to counter culture,
But never let them fill in.
The wells of God’s living water,
Old wells are where new life begins.

Author’s Look~
Isaac was looking for old wells in the land of his fathers, as he knew the vitality of life there would be determined by digging them up. They could not survive without the refreshing, cleansing power of water’s flow.
Scripture
Genesis 26:15, 18, 19 (KJV). . .For all the wells which his father’s servants had digged in the days of Abraham his father, the Philistines had stopped them, and filled them with earth. (18) And Isaac digged again the wells of water, which they had digged in they days of Abraham his father; for the Philistines had stopped them after the death of Abraham: and called their names by which his father had called them. (19) And Isaac’s servants digged in the valley, and found there a well of springing water.
My inspiration for this post came from a sermon I heard preached just last night, and it was extra special that God was speaking to me through the words being spoken by my son. Griffin did a great job bringing the WORD to the young people and all of us in that room, preparing for our church’s upcoming Youth Praise Gathering service on Friday night. http://www.firstchurchnashville.net/archive.html

At the end of this message, Griffin began to talk about old wells and the value of them in our lives; how we need to protect them, and be willing to fight for them, paying any cost to clean them out. He spoke of saints who have gone before us, both living and dead; family members as well, who have paid the price to dig a well that we are still enjoying. In the sermon’s end, he reminded us of wells in our own life that need to be dug up to allow new life to spring forth for others around us to receive the life giving flow. It is the wells which keep us thriving and surviving.
Old Wells
My mind began to think back to saints in my life whom I know have paid the price of digging wells, and they stood firm against all of the wiles of culture to keep the waters flowing. They pushed back and protected what was sacred, for their line was drawn in the sand, and they were not going to be moved by what was current and poplar if it did not line up with the Word of God.
My life was blessed by their sacrifice and was washed in the waters that flowed freely from those wells. It’s my turn now to do the same for others around me and the generations to come. We cannot let the culture fill in our well and stop the flow. God’s living water is what cleanses, refreshes and revives us, and we need it to survive in the lowly, messed up world that we live in. It is the living waters of the well that will make a difference!
OLD WELLS BRING NEW LIFE!
Lord let me be remembered by the younger generation for digging those Wells of living waters, that they can swim in and be washed in Jesus Name! ♥️

This is good stuff! I’m thankful someone dug that well for me or I wouldn’t be here. I pray to do that for my grandchildren family and those surrounding me and always remember to dig deep in every service I am blessed to attend. They’re watching us!!

Agree with you both. Wells are necessary for survival- we have to protect them.
