In life, you can sometimes find,

Yourself in a Place that feels unkind.

A Place found, while not searching for,

Yet, a Place that’s here, and you can hide no more.

The center of your being knows unrest,

When you reach this point of brokeness.

All in pieces, nothing to save.

You wonder what’s left? Just throw it away.

But God sees you there, in your scattered mess.

He holds up each one, every piece, every fray.

And sees them all, in a different way.

They are all pieces He can still use,

When under surrender, His will you choose.

He puts them in place, each one by one,

A work of art, so masterfully done.

No more the same and forever changed,

Telling a story of redemptive grace.

Some things have to be broken,

To allow God to shine,

It does not disqualify, the Kingdom’s design.

The tablets of Moses, the heart of King David,

Humanity and humility; broken.

The body of Jesus up on the cross,

Broken and beat, to save the lost.

God loves the broken,

He redeems every piece.

God uses the broken,

To become who He sees.

Elisa Morgan, well known author and speaker was a guest on one of the Focus on the Family programs that I was listening to one morning, while getting ready for my day.

This program gripped me, as I thought of how well it connected with humanity. It is not unusual for human beings to reach a point of brokenness . . .beat up by life, disappointed in ourselves and others, plans gone wrong . . .desperate. It is in that place where we can decide all is lost and there is nothing worth saving- its over . . all done . . our purpose is gone.

These broken places can take us to the very desperate point of rock bottom . . .and THAT . . is where God can begin His most masterful work.

It is in that desperate place, where we take our hands off of it all and surrender to doing it His way, that the true masterpiece of our life can begin.

Elisa spoke of examples that we read about in the Bible, such as Moses breaking the stone tablets. . . getting the Israelites attention, and David . . .arranging his own desires and pushing aside God’s. Both of these are humanly relatable. Yet, God didn’t leave them there, saying, “forget it, you messed up, you’re done!”

Instead, He lovingly reminded them of how surrender brings peace, and it allows His leadership to bring about the best possible outcomes. God is so much higher, so much wiser, so why wouldn’t we want Him to steer our ship?

I particularly loved the example given that day, of how the body of Jesus was beaten and broken on the cross . . .all to redeem mankind. He had to be broken, to begin His redemption.

God is there, watching and waiting, and He can redeem what is broken. He can build something beautiful with the messy pieces of our failures. When you think there is nothing left because everything is too broken . . . that is actually the sweet spot for Him to begin to use those broken pieces and create a masterpiece with your life.

Jeremiah 29:11 (KJV) . . . For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.

God has an expected end for you. Can you trust Him with it? Hand over the controls, and let Him lead your life today. Walk the walk, His way, and watch Him masterly create more beauty than you could ever imagine.
